See what the plowman left for us? By the way, since it was all of FOURTEEN degrees today, this was frozen solid.

This is what was at the end of the street-we were boxed in.

Oh, Mom, by the way-rock salt wasn't doing much for us. That's the blue stuff you see by the tire.

Rock salt really has a limited effect on ice - the thicker the ice, the less likely that it will be of any help.
You're going to need to get the drive-wheels some traction, which means clearing the ice from their viciinity by any means necessary. Also might help to let some air out of the tires - not a lot, just enough that the tire looks a little low.
Also - take a look at the comment left on your sister's blog - that might help.
